A person’s social rank and profession in the Medieval Ages was represented by the color of their clothing.  The nobility wore red, peasants wore brown and gray, and merchants, bankers, and gentry wore green.

I’m glad today we can wear the colors we like (and look good in) rather than ranking tell us.  To be honest, looking at these images, I’ve been  dressing a whole lot like a peasant due to a cute little toddler that keeps me busy.
